Woodlands

The Woodlands in the wider estate have dominated Trentham for over 1000 years. The parts of the woodland which are free to enter are The Kings Wood, The Monument, The Oaks and The Parkland Walks.

Go explore

As well as the gardens, the wider estate is ecologically significant and deeply rooted in the Estate’s rich history—perfect for exploration, relaxation and discovery throughout the year.

The wider landscape at Trentham Estate, offers woodland, lowland heathland interwoven with pathways for you to explore a rich mix of natural beauty, history and wildlife. Much of the area is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), recognising its importance for biodiversity, with ancient trees, diverse habitats and seasonal displays that support a wide range of flora and fauna.

The public use of the woodland walks is encouraged, but we politely remind guests that this is a private estate and we reserve the right to refuse admission or to remove from the estate any person whose behaviour is inappropriate.

Designated off-lead dog area

Heading out towards North Park, you’ll find a designated off-lead area where dogs can stretch their legs. Within the main gardens and woodland areas, we ask that dogs are kept on short 2-metre leads to help protect wildlife.
