Digital Content Creator

The Purpose

Our purpose is to nurture and grow this wonderfully special place for people, nature and wildlife to thrive. We have ambitious growth plans for the Staycation market and are looking to build a talented team to help us achieve our goals. This is an important role for Trentham and will be focused on supporting the Brand & Digital Strategy in creating high quality, relevant and engaging creative content for our digital channels (web and social media).

The Person

We are looking for a creative, driven and innovative individual - someone who is passionate about creating long lasting experiences and elevating our brand enabling us to engage with new and existing audiences. Our new Digital Content Creator will have a creative flair, allowing you to think outside the box to capture all that Trentham has to offer, bringing the products and customer experience to life in the digital environment!

Required Experience

  • Relevant experience with creative tools including graphic design, video production and editing, and photography – ideally with a relevant degree.
  • Proven track record of delivering unique concepts reflecting the brand and volume of content.
  • Must have video and audio production and editing skills.
  • Experience of managing full creative optimisations – scheduling platforms, concepts and assets, testing and reporting.
  • Must have advanced understanding of social media platforms and functions (must include Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube and TikTok)
  • Familiar with image editing tools like photoshop & video editing experience.
  • Experience of Adobe Creative Suite include InDesign, Illustrator Photoshop, and Premier Pro or equivalent.

Key Accountabilities

  • Create and produce a diverse range of content communicating and enticing audiences to Trentham. Content will include graphics, digital assets and motion graphics, for social media, print, emails and other marketing collateral and materials.
  • Work collaboratively with product owners to interpret the content to reach the target markets (examples include:  Horticultural & Nature content, Events and Activities, Retail and B2B corporate and business).
  • Plan and create engaging video content, including promotional videos, interviews, vox pops, and time-lapses. With knowledge of various format of video exports.
  • Proactive planning of the digital campaigns in line with marketing strategy and business goals.
  • Develop and manage the social media calendar in line with the marcomms plan and develop impactful content.
  • Coordinate comms execution across the social media platforms and develop improved use of new/under-utilised channels.
  • Create social media content including new photos, videos, and graphics in line with the brand.
  • Writing creative captions and engaging with followers on social media.
  • Coordinate and update content for the website in conjunction with the marketing team.
  • Be responsible for maintaining the digital presence with the curation of content.
  • Coordinate digital content for internal customers by developing digital campaigns and ready-to-use content and assets.
  • Work in collaboration with the team to develop ideas for new content.
  • Monitor, evaluation and reporting of campaigns and social content.
  • Be responsible for tracking digital performance and providing performance insight into analytics.
  • Ensure projects and tasks are completed on time and within budget.

Essential Skills/Qualifications

  • A passion for the outdoors, leisure days out, events, hospitality and retail sector.
  • Preferable experience in the visitor economy sector.
  • Strong knowledge of content creation and have robust intellectual curiosity.
  • UI/UX design and content design principles.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills/ability to work to tight deadlines, managing multiple tasks and projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Teamwork and the ability to foster good working relationships.

Estates and Biodiversity Volunteer

Role summary

Be part of a dynamic estates and biodiversity team, volunteering to conserve and protect this special place whilst gaining new skills and experience.

What’s involved?

  • Helping to control invasive plants, bashing, pulling and cutting; building, installing & maintaining nest boxes.
  • Helping to restore or keep clear historic footpaths.
  • Support our work to reduce plastics contaminating rivers and oceans by helping with litter picks.
  • You will also get involved with fence and boundary maintenance across the site.
  • Supporting our farmer with Lambing Events, through talking to the public, helping herd and feed sheep.
  • You could also be involved in wildlife reintroduction projects, restoring & monitoring habitats, supporting our Water Vole release.

Intro Talk Volunteer

Our Intro Talk Volunteers give brief 10-15min talks in the garden to introduce our visitors to the fascinating history of Trentham Estate.

What’s involved?

  • Giving 15 min outdoor talks at set times about the hall, garden or estate.
  • Telling stories and anecdotes that people will remember, and answering any questions.
  • Keeping an eye on the time, so we can offer the intro talks regularly throughout the day.
  • Learning and sharing ideas with staff and volunteers.
  • You are important in making sure things run as smoothly and safely as possible – this includes getting to know health and safety and evacuation procedures.
  • There might occasionally be some other activities that are of interest to you, that we could use your help with.

  • Someone who loves being around people – you’ll meet a lot each day!
  • Confident in telling the history of Trentham in an engaging way.

Park Guide

Role summary

Volunteer Park Guides help to conserve this special place and helping people to enjoy and understand it.

What’s involved?

  • Developing a good knowledge of Trentham Estate, its history, landscape, archaeological and biological importance in order to share this with visitors.
  • Welcoming visitors by providing information and guidance, and sharing your enthusiasm and knowledge of Trentham Estate with them.
  • Leading guided walks (optional) for visitors to share your knowledge of the estates park, woodlands, heathlands & wildlife.
  • Assisting with the upkeep and maintenance of Trentham historic habitats and achieving high standards of conservation and presentation; including removing litter and ensuring lost property is properly dealt with.
  • Monitoring the conditions of footpaths, fences, wildlife and outdoor public facilities, and reporting incidents and situations that may require follow up. • Helping with other activities and tasks that may crop up when you’re on duty, including assisting with public events and other activities.
  • Being aware of the different access requirements of all our visitors and assisting with these where necessary.
  • Dealing with queries from visitors and passing to the Duty Manager if necessary.
  • Reporting to your Volunteer coordinator any concerns, worries or issues you have, seeking assistance at the earliest opportunity.
  • Maintaining and enforcing the site rules, reporting any problems in doing so to the Duty Manager.
  • Becoming familiar with and then following our Health and Safety Policy. Copies of this are on the Volunteer Notice Boards.
  • Complying with our Values and Behaviours when volunteering.
  • Keeping abreast of Volunteer Bulletin notices relevant to you and your team.
  • Attending relevant meetings and training days throughout the year.
  • Being an ambassador for Trentham and keeping abreast of the organisation’s ambitions, strategy and motivations.

Garden Tour Guide

Gardening Volunteer

Role summary

Be hands-on as a valued member of the Gardens team, keeping our gardens and outdoor spaces looking their best (and accessible to all) year-round.

What’s involved?

  • You’ll be hands-on with the garden team keeping the garden looking wonderful all year round, completing tasks including weeding, pruning, and mowing.
  • You will play a crucial role in delivering and implementing our exciting new planting projects.
  • Working independently and as part of an amazing team.
  • Working outside in most weathers.
  • Engaging with our visitors to the gardens and making everyone feel welcome and able to explore. Flexibility to choose when you volunteer, be as involved as you want to be.
  • You are important in making sure things run as smoothly and safely as possible – this includes getting to know health and safety and evacuation procedures. There might occasionally be some other activities that are of interest to you, that we could use your help with.

Gardens Team Member

The Purpose

To maintain the grounds and gardens all year round. As part of the Trentham Estate Team, assist in being an integral member of the Team and work well with other teams on the estate.

Required Experience

  • Efficient maintenance, presentation and development of horticultural features and supporting infrastructure within all areas of the Garden.
  • Supporting team activity through flexible working hours to facilitate some maintenance tasks outside of opening hours or at weekends with overtime to meet demands of seasonal activities.
  • Plant and equipment use in line with garden policies.
  • Supporting the Trentham Garden and Estate Team as required.
  • Providing support for Garden events cover as needed which may include working overtime or weekend hours on rota.

In relation to generic responsibilities:

  • Maintain knowledge and adhere to relevant Group Policies and Procedures, Legislation and Regulations.
  • Develop and ensure safe working practices are always adhered to.

Experience, Skills and Knowledge Required

  • Practical skills in plant and border maintenance (pruning and training, topiary work, lifting and dividing, feeding, irrigating, P & D control, soil management).
  • Develop a sound background in machinery and equipment usage: mowers, strimmer’s, tractors, knapsack sprayers.
  • A thorough understanding and application of current Health and Safety legislation relating to garden maintenance operations.
  • An ability to work alone or as a member of a team (to work with other gardeners, students, volunteers, and contractors as may be required). Flexible approach.
  • To have worked in a ‘similar environment’ preferable but not essential (an historic garden).

Desirable Qualifications

  • PA1 and PA6 in chemical usage.
  • NPTC Tractor Driving.
  • A current, clean driving licence.
  • Horticultural Qualification to Level 3.
