Temporary Part Time Retail Assistant


Outdoor and Country Trentham has an exciting opportunity for a Part Time Retail Assistant to join the team on a temporary contact from October to January .

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • You will work as part of a team to deliver an exceptional positive customer experience, putting the customer at the centre of all you do.
  • By providing an excellent customer experience, you will help to maximise sales and achieve agreed Store success targets.
  • Become an ambassador of our brand(s) (you will be supported with product knowledge) to ensure you are able to effectively help customers and achieve and create the ultimate customer experience.
  • Handle customer queries confidently and escalating where required in a calm efficient manner at all times.
  • To undertake all training and development as required and actively seek out new product information.
  • Play an active role in supporting the Management Team with store standards, including ensuring products are displayed attractively within visual merchandising guidelines.
  • Ability to work under pressure during busy periods, with flexibility and adaptability.
  • To be aware of and support the Management Team in meeting business expectations for loss prevention and security; following the appropriate escalation and incident reporting processes when required.
  • Embody the values of Outdoor and Country and act as a role model of the Brand.

What we are looking for:

We are looking for someone to support the uplift in trade the store experiences in the months of October, November and December. Candidates must be fully flexible and able to work over the Christmas period.

Deputy Manager


Whittard of Chelsea is looking for an enthusiastic, engaging individual with previous sales experience to support the store manager to maximise profitability by driving a culture of high performance that focuses on providing exceptional customer service and inspirational leadership.

You’ll be a people person, friendly and informative with a desire to inspire. Previous retail management experience is desirable but not essential  and great organisational and excellent customer service skills are a must! Estates Team Member


The Purpose

This role will be key to our success, as you’ll oversee and co-ordinate all operational deliverables for events held at the Estate enabling us to drive our ambitious growth plans.

Required Experience

  • Practical skills and experience in estate maintenance Sound knowledge of tree’s, plants and wildlife.
  • A sound background in machinery usage to include –ride on / hand mowers, brush cutters, chainsaw, mini digger.

Experience, Skills and Knowledge Required

  • Practical skills and experience in estate maintenance Sound knowledge of tree’s, plants and wildlife.
  • A sound background in machinery usage to include –ride on / hand mowers, brush cutters, chainsaw, mini digger.
  • Support with maintenance tasks and preservation of areas of the estate.
  • Carry out light pathway, walkway and deck repairs.
  • Carry out light forestry works.
  • Support in the management of livestock and wildlife.
  • Undertake weekly health and safety checks and report back as required.
  • Carry out woodland patrols to ensure safety is maintained and damage is rectified.
  • Support in delivering biodiversity and sustainability activities and projects.
  • Provide support for large scale projects where plant and machinery usage are required.
  • Teamwork and the ability to foster good working relationships.
  • An understanding and working knowledge of current Health and Safety legislation.
  • An ability to work alone or as a member of a team (i.e. to work with other team members, gardeners, students, volunteers and contractors as may be required).
  • NPTC Tractor Driving.
  • A current, clean driving licence with the ability to tow trailers.

For safeguarding reasons, the company requires employees in this position to undergo a basic DBS check, which will show unspent convictions only. The results of the DBS check would be dealt with on a case-by case base.

Services & Outdoor Activity Lead


The Purpose

Form part of the facility and duty management team for the entire estate. To oversee and manage the operational soft facilities services which include Cleaning, Waste Management & Pest Control. To operationally manage all outdoor activity within the estate.

Required Experience

  • To oversee and manage all facility services including – Cleaning, Waste Management and Pest Control in both retail, gardens, lakeside, public buildings & areas and wider estate areas.
  • To oversee and manage all Outdoor Activity services which includes Boat, Train, Disc Golf, Playgrounds, Barefoot Walk, and any further activities added in due course.
  • To manage relationships with Trentham Water Sports Association and Lake Fishing members.
  • People management of all operatives within the structure.
  • Ensure all statutory compliance activity is completed and suitably recorded.
  • Schedule and deliver a detailed preventative maintenance plan in line with current site assets.
  • Provide Health and Safety support and ensuring the site is compliant with latest health and safety legislation.
  • Contract management, tendering works and liaison with soft services contractors.
  • Ensure suitable and sufficient procurement is in place for consumables.
  • Manage site wastage streams, monitor and record recycling figures.
  • Support the drive towards a sustainable operation and net carbon zero goals.
  • Ensure public indoor areas, offices and workshops are consistently cleaned to a high standard.
  • To assist the events team when planning for events to ensure effective H&S and facilities services are provided.
  • To deputise in the absence of the Head of Facilities when required.
  • To act as operational duty manager as required.
  • To act as operational event lead as required.

In relation to generic responsibilities:

  • Maintain knowledge and adhere to relevant Group Policies and Procedures, Legislation and Regulations.
  • Develop and ensure safe working practices across teams.


Skills & Experience

  • Operational understanding and experience in aspects of soft service facility management but with a strong working knowledge of Waste and Cleaning operations.
  • Exceptional focus towards customer experience.
  • A sound understanding of planned preventative maintenance scheduling in line with SFG20.
  • Working knowledge of MCA legislation and any other legislation linked to outdoor activities.
  • Knowledge of FM systems and practices with experience in supplier management.
  • Good IT skills including a working knowledge of Excel and word.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of Health & Safety regulations, ideally with IOSH qualification as minimum and working towards NEBOSH.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and be able to work on your own initiative largely unsupervised.
