What The Book? Presents An Evening With AJ West

From London to Trentham by Camper Van: Bestselling Author Brings New Historical Mystery to Staffordshire.

Independent bookshop What The Book? is delighted to welcome bestselling historical novelist A.J. West to Cadwaladers at Trentham Estate on Friday 27th November 2026 for a special launch event celebrating his brand-new novel, The Deadly Inheritance of Everest Macdonald.

To launch his latest novel, West has packed up his life in London and moved into a camper van – aptly named Everest – and is traveling the length and breadth of the UK visiting independent bookshops and readers.

On 27 November, it’s Trentham’s turn.

The evening will include a conversation with the author, audience Q&A, book signing, and the opportunity to hear the remarkable true story that inspired his latest novel.

About The Book

Set in wartime London and based on a real Victorian murder, The Deadly Inheritance of Everest Macdonald follows Everest Macdonald as she investigates the decades-old killing of her famous uncle, actor William Terriss.

As she follows a trail of clues through London’s theatrical underworld, Everest uncovers a dark mystery involving obsession, betrayal, family secrets, and one of the most notorious crimes of the Victorian stage.

The novel has already attracted significant attention ahead of publication and is expected to become one of the year’s most talked-about historical mysteries.
