A Magical Halloween Day at Trentham Gardens
This October half-term, I took my son, Eli, and my niece, Zvi, to the Halloween event at Trentham Gardens. I’ve been to the gardens many times, but somehow, they never get old. The beauty of the place, combined with the festive Halloween setup, made it an unforgettable experience.
As soon as we arrived, we were greeted with light rain, but that didn’t dampen our spirits one bit. It added a cozy, autumnal feel to the day, and we embraced the drizzle as part of the experience. We made it just in time for the panto show, and Zvi was completely captivated. She even joined in singing and dancing to “Dancing Queen” during one of the performances! Seeing her face light up with excitement was priceless.
We explored the carved pumpkin trail, which was a highlight for me. The intricate pumpkin carvings were beyond anything we had seen before; different scenes and characters carved from pumpkins were set up throughout the trail. My favourite moment was seeing Eli’s expression of pure amazement when he spotted the Venus flytrap pumpkin sculpture. He was so curious about how they had managed to carve such a unique shape from a regular pumpkin. I explained that it wasn’t done with a typical round pumpkin, but rather a long one, which helped capture the Venus flytrap’s shape perfectly.
By the playground, we discovered a magical touch, the Witchcraft and Wizardry School! Eli and Zvi had the chance to learn spells, wave their wands, and finally “graduate” with certificates in hand. The scenic outdoor theatre was fantastic at keeping the kids entertained, and their excitement was contagious.
Photo opportunities were everywhere, and we took full advantage, capturing precious memories at every turn. The gardens were decked out with such care and creativity for Halloween that it was clear how much effort had gone into making this event special.
The rides were a fantastic addition, especially the swing ride by the lake. We loved soaring up high, taking in the beautiful view over Trentham Gardens and the lake below. While most rides were just for the kids, this one let us all join in on the fun together.
Before we knew it, four hours had flown by as we were immersed in the Halloween magic of Trentham Gardens. Every moment felt like an adventure, and seeing Eli and Zvi so happy made it all worthwhile. It was a day filled with fun, laughter, and memories we will cherish.
If you haven’t been yet, take your children to Trentham Gardens and dive into the Halloween magic! Open until October 31, it’s the perfect place for some spooky fun and unforgettable memories.
