The Trentham Estate
The Trentham Estate was purchased by St. Modwen in 1996.
The £100 million transformation has brought listed buildings back to life, reinstated the extensive flower gardens and restored historic parkland, where 10,000 native trees have been planted.
A magical Fairy Trail, a hide and speak maze, the UK’s first Barefoot Walk and a 42-seat battery-operated catamaran called ‘Miss Elizabeth’ was also introduced. This is in addition to the development of Trentham Shopping Village and Garden Centre as well an all-year round events programme.
The Fairy ‘Wishes’ was added in 2004 to mark the 10th anniversary of Trentham’s official re-opening. The Fairy, seen holding a dandelion clock, marks the passing of time and how the wish of St. Modwen Properties PLC’s founder, Sir Stanley Clarke – to regenerate the famous Staffordshire Estate – has come true in such spectacular style.
