Atelier Galleries at Trentham to welcome artist Mary Shaw

On Saturday 13th August, acclaimed artist Mary Shaw, who specialises in paintings of the English countryside, is attending a very special event at Atelier Galleries, located in Trentham Shopping Village.

Atelier Galleries at Trentham will be hosting a special event to showcase Mary Shaw’s enchanting countryside paintings, with a guest talk and chance to learn more about her work

Mary Shaw was born in Bristol, where she still resides today. She spent four years living in Zimbabwe and Cape Town, where she began to establish herself as a professional artist.

On returning to the UK, Mary rediscovered her affection for the English countryside. She was particularly interested in the rare and endangered species found amongst England’s hedgerows and began to depict them in her paintings.

Created using a variety of media, Mary’s beautiful pieces have an enchanting delicate touch. Loosely- painted organic foregrounds contrast with areas of exquisite detail; often a butterfly, kingfisher or field mouse is found nestled within the flowers. Her use of diamond dust gives each painting an iridescent sparkle, adding a contemporary twist to otherwise traditional scenes.

Atelier Galleries will be hanging several pieces of Mary’s work on Thursday 11th August, in anticipation for an event with the artist this Saturday 13th August. Guests to the event will be treated to a welcome glass of fizz and a guest talk from Mary herself.

Mary’s work is the perfect fit for Trentham and its 725 acres of stunning grounds including historic woodland, 1-mile lake and Italian Gardens. This year, Trentham has also sown over 12 million seeds as part of its Annual Flowering Meadows which give visitors an amazing uplifting, immersive and colourful experience as they walk around the lakeside.

Trentham’s magnificent scenery offers the perfect backdrop to Mary’s work which is set to be incredibly popular with both regular and new visitors to the historic estate.

The event with Mary Shaw will take place on Saturday 13th August from 1pm-3pm. Please contact for more information.
