Gardens Revisited

Starting in the summer, we will embark on this transformative project in partnership with renowned landscape architect Tom Stuart-Smith, revisitng his original Italian Gardens design. The gardens will be rejuvenated in stages, allowing us to carefully develop different areas of the beds as we progress. This phased approach ensures that the gardens can recover and renew effectively, embracing both horticultural and social benefits.

As we face a changing climate and new challenges for our plants and gardens, our 20 years of experience since the development of the Italian Gardens guides us. This initiative will allow us to renew this central focal point of the gardens, ensuring its longevity for future generations.

Stuart-Smith’s visionary designs will honour the gardens rich heritage while introducing fresh, innovative elements, creating a dynamic landscape where every visit will offer new discoveries. His expert touch will enhance the natural beauty of each season, turning every pathway and vista into a living masterpiece.

The New David Austin Rose Border

This renovation will revitalise our beloved rose border with a curated selection of blooms that promise a multi-sensory experience. Each variety will be chosen for its unique beauty, resilience, and ability to thrive, ensuring the garden becomes a beacon of sustainability and horticultural excellence. As the largest David Austin border outside of their Shropshire home, the new layout will invite visitors to meander through an intoxicating mix of colours and fragrances, providing a tranquil retreat that celebrates the timeless allure of roses.

Work has already begun on this exciting project: the existing rose plantings have been removed, and the team has started excavating the bed to create a solid foundation for the new border, which will be installed later this year.We will be providing updates as this exciting collaboration progresses, with planting set to commence later this year.
